Heraklion, where has the warm sun, the breeze, alcohol and a series of excellent local dishes, really peaceful place to stop on and explore ancient culture.

Heraklion city, the capital of Crete island, Greece traces of many historical events in the past. Heraklion that also called Iraklion, is the largest city on Crete island and also is the 4th largest city in Greece. Here, you can find the ruins of the famous Knossos palace, where the largest concentration of population on the Crete island during the Minoan. Besides, Heraklion is also shopping area with lots of shops selling clothes, shoes, jewelry. The knowledgeable visitor will be able to trace the past under the urban sprawl of the present.

The core of the city is still enclosed and defined by the Venetian wall, which includes seven outjutting bastions. In the southernmost of these, the Martinengo Bastion, is the grave of Nikos Kazantzakis, standing on a windswept hilltop with its moving inscription, "I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free."
